Daniel got into surfski’s from a lifelong involvement in ocean racing yachts both coastal, short handed and deep water.  Absolutely loved the Sydney surf ski scene from the beginning and after a year, swapped out the Epic V8 Pro for a well loved Vega Flex and Allwave RS595.

Always preferring ocean paddling and catching runs over the flat water, Daniel always struggled with the existing leash systems and worked on trying to find a better solution.

Kai Bartlett had said – “I wanted to cross the ideas a bit.”  referring to designing the Vega from the design heritage of OC-1s.  Daniel was also inspired by this and thought through how to “cross the ideas” from the safety gear he used in deep water ocean racing and apply some of the design principles to an entirely new idea and application – staying attached to your surf ski in comfort and enabling trouble free remounts.

“I wanted a system where I could play in the surf and have a great time without the fear of my leash breaking and losing the boat”  explained Daniel, who recalled those times when his leash did break trying to get to open water through surf breaks.

“I believe we now have a system with SeaArc and DeckArc which will enhance paddler’s enjoyment of the sport we all love!  I look forward to meeting you all out on the water.”
